Thank you from all of us at Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative to all who came to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday. From the Wyoming Outdoor Council's Tribal Conservation Summit to the Buffalo Bash that evening, we loved seeing everyone.

We had roughly 200 visitors throughout the day!
Happy Autumnal Equinox! It's the first day of fall 🍂⛅🍁

In the Shoshone language, the word for fall is yepani and in Arapaho it's tooyouni'.

The rut here at Buffalo Camp is finally winding down. For about two weeks the male Buffalo have been competing against each other for mates. Often males won't eat and all they do is fight.🥊💥🥇

In the warm weather of summer Buffalo eat mostly grasses, but in a pinch they are known to eat mosses, lichen, bark, and some wildflowers. 💐

Music played as youth attended workshops about storytelling, culture, painting, and the Arapaho language. Ho hoú to all the partners and volunteers.
Last week, the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative participated in the Northern Arapaho 477 Biixooo3eitiit Program's first Youth Conference! There were many activities throughout the two-day event hosted in Central Wyoming College's Intertribal Center.
Storytelling, tradition, and song were front and center at the National Geographic Photo Camp last week here at the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative.

Summer is well underway and the calves are growing up so fast here at WRTBI headquarters.

We've welcomed 34 calves this year to the Eastern Shoshone herd.
