LINGER AWHILE [WITH ME]
I am going to become so insufferable when this comes out.
I have to wonder if this is the burden that the first person shooter genre will have to live with forever. I feel like no matter how well you can foster that type of audience, there will always be a majority that is just (creatively) unthinking and uncaring capital G Gamers.
I think there's something there about the focus being on how much of a fan you are, perhaps. Show vs Tell, if I may get pretentious about it. The difference between yelling "Look how much of a # nerd I am about this game" and showing it by writing something that would fit into the world itself.

being told i was a “talented” child only taught me that i was better than everyone else, hence deserved more appreciation and respect that never came. needless to say, i was one day crushed under the weight of reality and then spent years finding out who i actually am. can’t really say i succeeded.
I hate the word "talented." It's an empty idea that obscures effort. I prefer to think some people are born with a "knack." A brain with a knack adapts to certain skillsets faster, but without dedication, knack falters. Many are born with more passion than knack, and passion succeeds every time.
