"Using an underground system of canals installed 20 to 200 metres below the desert surface, slight slopes employed gravity to carry cooling water to irrigate soil, lower ambient temperatures and provide drinking water to animals in arid regions."

15 Nov 2025 is definitely a day for the diary -
As well as the prayer walk in the morning, the Sea Change Festival will be taking place at Rockaway Park near Temple Cloud (south of Keynsham). Lots of incredible activities and awareness raising on all issues relating to waterways and the sea.
Another interesting Bookhause event Mon 03 Nov 2025

This is a critical moment for UK nature. 🌿
Let’s make sure our MPs know: we want planning that protects wildlife, not destroys it. 🗣️💥

The Bill now returns to the House of Commons for its final reading. 🏛️

The @WildlifeTrusts are urging everyone to write to their MP

and demand they support the Lords’ amendments. ✍️💚

There’s a glimmer of good news 🌤️ — during the Bill’s 3rd reading, the House of Lords re-inserted two key amendments:
🦋 to protect rare species & habitats
💧 to protect globally rare chalk streams

HOWEVER… just as the Bill nears its final stages, the government has dropped most of those vital amendments. 😡💔

UK wildlife & conservation charities had secured key government amendments to soften its worst aspects — a hard-won bit of hope for nature. 🍃🤝

⚠️ The Planning and Infrastructure Bill currently going through Parliament will have a huge impact on our natural environment. 🌳🐝

I've finally got around to curating a selection of films about the #climate crisis 🎥

There's lot of mediocre climate films out there, but for me these stand out head & shoulders above the rest 🎞️

They make excellent resources for classrooms, lecture halls, or community cinema's 🎬

Our Demands

We have three demands of the Government and others in positions of power:

1 of 3: Tell the Truth

2 of 3: Act Now
Every part of society must act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Bottom line:
i.e. No burning of fossil gas

Now, despite the oil field set to produce more CO2 than the 28 poorest countries do in a year, Equinor has reapplied to develop Rosebank. The UK government is assessing the application and has started a 30 day consultation.
