Joining the center.☺️ But not done yet, I plan to add more sections, making a different shape. #tatting #fibrearts #fiberarts #lacemaking #colorfuldoily
Tatting lace in progress with motifs of multiple colors being joined together, shown outside on a warm day in early autumn. The person tatting the lace is sitting on a bench and displaying the work in progress on her hand. A small pink plastic shuttle is secured temporarily with her thumb while the most recent join to the center of the lace is not yet tightened.

Oh that’s sooo fabulous! 🤩 👏👏👏

I came back from a wonderful nature walk where I saw many asters, so I’m inspired to try next hand dyed batch with these colors. #naturescolors #handyed #colorinspiration
Purple asters (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) perennial native to eastern North America, blooming in early autumn.

What colorway do you want in hand dyed thread? I’m thinking about
“Knitty Gritty” (browns, autumn earth tones)
“Blue Skies” (shades of sky blue)
“Stardate” ( purple, blue, magenta)
also open to suggestions!
Please reply with your ideas. #handdyed #handdyedthread #handdyeing

I won at thread chicken, but just barely. #tatting
A very short thread tail being sewn in to a piece of tatting. The tail is so short that the needle must be inserted first, then the tail threaded into the needle to sew it in each time, hiding the tail under the caps of the double stitches before being pulled snugly to bury it in. When all this is done the remaining tail can be cut off.

I use “up” joins when working from the front side, and “down” joins when working from the back side to keep the color blips all on the back side. I know that “blipless” joining techniques exist but never mastered them, it’s just a personal choice. #tatting 🧶 #fiberarts #lacemaking
2 tatting photos side by side, the left side showing an “up” join, the right side showing a “down” join. Blips of green show wherever the red tatting is joined to the green tatting on the back side of the work shown in the photo on the right.

I participated in the protest in Greenfield, WI today. Here’s a few of the signs. #Mobilize #protest #freespeech
4 pictures showing some protest signs. They say, “Violence has no place”, Americans believe in free speech”, “Due process is for everyone”, “Imagine being afraid of diversity but not dictatorship”, and “Absolute power corrupts absolutely”.

Thank you. ☺️ This is my own tatting from my own pattern.

My tatting project in progress so far! My own pattern “Daylily Dance” PDF is at Goimagine goimagine.com/tatting-patt... also on Etsy. #fiberygoodness #tatting #fiberarts #lacemaking
Unfinished doily or table runner in progress with several motifs still not connected. A ball of pinkish red thread is at upper left with the thread attached to a tatting shuttle nearby. 2 more tatting shuttles are at lower left, attached to a cream colored thread. There are dark green narrow motifs in the partially finished section and some of the tatting is hand dyed colors of pink to light green.

Mistakes happen. 😏 I told myself “join to same picot, NOT next picot” but then I joined to next picot anyway…so now I’m un-tatting back to redo the join where it’s supposed to go (where arrow is pointing). #tatting #rippingback
Tatting in progress on a hand, but undoing a mistake so the stitches are being opened up so they can be undone. 2 tatting shuttles are attached to the thread.

It’s my own “Daylily Dance” pattern (the PDF is for sale on Goimagine and Etsy) but I’m trying it in different colors. The thread sticking out at the left is where I had to correct a mistake and add new thread. #tatting #fiberarts #lacemaking #doily #tattinglace
Tatting lace in progress, showing a partially finished triangular motif being ready to join to another motif. There is a dark green narrow design in between the two pieces. Colors are a little different than the camera could capture: the red in reality is more like intense magenta. The shaded thread is hand dyed from the “Rhubarb Pie” colorway.

Oh, yes, absolutely!👍 It’s not my “invention” anyway, just another tatting technique.

There’s an article about tatting (written by me) in tinyStudio Creative Life magazine issue 28! #tatting #fiberart #fiberarts #fiberygoodness www.fiberygoodness.com
Part of the article showing a tatted necklace, bracelet, a Celtic design, various tatting shuttles, and hands with tatting in progress. Table of contents and pictures from the tinyStudio Creative Life Magazine issue 28 showing colorful yarn, angora goat, Coopworth sheep, and fiber art images including a felt art bird image. The magazine cover showing a woman with a spinning wheel outside with trees in the background.

Give it a try. Most people take a few minutes practice, then try again later or next day. The “flip” of shuttle tatting takes a little practice, like learning to ride a bike - but once you’ve “got it” it’s easy!

Tatted earrings shell design from my pattern in “Next Steps In Shuttle Tatting” on Craftsy.com - this pair is listed for sale at goimagine.com/marileestatt... #tattedEarrings #tattingjewelry #tatting #tattinglace
Tatted lace earrings in a Nautiloid shell shape, displayed on a hand with some plants in the background. The earrings are made in hand dyed thread shading from aqua blue to sandy brown. The earwires are gray niobium with a small spiral embellishment.

Swarovski didn’t want us “ordinary crafters” - yes I remember how angry I was that day when I first heard about it. But, it’s Swarovski’s loss.🤨

Here’s some of the creative signs at the protest in Greenfield, WI today. #indivisible #signprotest #activism
Protesters crossing a street carrying signs, which read “Putin’s Puppet”, “Free balls for members of Congress who have lost theirs”, and “Accountability isn’t optional Congress, do your damn job”.
