The Democrats aren't even leftists. By global standards, the bulk of the party is central slightly right: conservative. There are some factions within the party that are more liberal. And they haven't changed for decades. It's the GOP that changed.

Well, he can't leave it alive. He is grifting and conning and breaking international and domestic laws and taking money from a lot of powerful people, and if he stops being president, he has no use or power and he is toast.

Why can't the Dems all show up and convene Congress and swear her in on video and email the video to all of the absent members of Congress? They need to act more like Trump these days: do it first and find out if it's legal later.
