I've been feeling really isolated and unmotivated to engage the things I've always loved. I understand that I'm losing my grasp on life so I recently have gotten into therapy. I hope all the artists I know understand that its okay to need help and that our community keeps us strong.

This system has taken so much away from me. I was almost pushed into the school to prison pipeline before I had the chance to truly see what I could even achieve. The feeling of inadequacy this made me feel was immense.

When I was kicked out for truancy and sent to an alternative school I tried my best to go but once I realized they wouldn’t let me leave even though I attended more and got teachers references for how productive I was they still wouldn’t let me go back to my original school.

They tried to choose who I was before I knew who I was. I was a black pre ap student that went to a historic high school known for being one of the first schools in the US to be desegregated.
