My personal thoughts about Lyserg’s family are that since he lost his parents at a young age, from my perspective, I want to give him a warm and complete family, probably with around five children.

But what I’ve shared here is just my personal perspective. I also really enjoy seeing how others interpret Ren, so please don’t let my thoughts influence your own ideas—everyone’s Ren universe is completely unique.

The X-Laws taught Lyserg how to drink, and he started by forcing himself a little. The X-Laws laughed and said he was still a kid, but Lyserg quietly practiced on his own afterward and eventually became the best drinker among the X-Laws. I like both interpretations.

I like both interpretations.

Lyserg is naturally good at drinking. At first, the X-Laws teased him not to overdo it, but before long Lyserg was still drinking while the other X-Laws had all passed out. He’s just naturally got a strong tolerance.

When it comes to Lyserg learning to drink, I personally have two ways of looking at it:

道唯 (Yui) —— In Chinese, “唯” means only, pure, or single-minded.

道蕾 (Rei) —— In Chinese, “蕾” means flower bud or unopened flower. Its pronunciation is the same as “雷,” which means thunder.

道茜 (Sen) —— In Chinese, “茜” refers to madder (a plant), and it also extends to mean a vivid red color.

道梓 (Shi/Shu) —— In Chinese, “梓” is the name of a type of tree, and it is also commonly used in given names. Its pronunciation is the same as “紫,” which means the color purple.

道晴 (Sei) —— In Chinese, “晴” means clear weather or brightness.

道音 (Ne) —— In Chinese, “音” means sound.

道詩 (Shi) —— In Chinese, “詩” means poetry or literature.

道芯 (Shin) —— In Chinese, “芯” often refers to the core, the heart, or the inner part of a plant.

道愛 (AI) — “愛” conveys love, affection, or “I love you” in Chinese.

道妍 (Ken) — “妍” describes beauty, especially feminine beauty.

道凜 (Rin) —— In Chinese, “凜” carries the meaning of being solemn, cold, and dignified.

道莓 (MEI) — “莓” means strawberry in Chinese.

道希 (Ki) — “希” carries the meaning of hope or wish in Chinese.

道戀 (Ren) — “戀” means love or romance in Chinese; the Japanese reading is the same as 蓮.

道晴 (Sei) —— In Chinese, “晴” means clear weather or brightness.
道唯 (Yui) —— In Chinese, “唯” means only, pure, or single-minded.
道夕 (Yuu / Yu) —— In Chinese, “夕” means evening or dusk.

I imagine her name being dreamy, cute, elegant, and graceful. These characters are also quite popular choices for girls’ names in the Chinese-speaking world.

Below are the readings using Japanese pronunciation:

My personal preference (just a bit of wishful thinking) is that Ren’s daughter could have a name using characters like: 莓, 希, 戀, 愛, 妍, 凜, 音, 詩, 芯, 梓, 晴, 唯, 夕, 蕾, or 茜.
yurikalily.bsky.social
While I can understand the logic of combining the parents’ names, in the Chinese-speaking world, “黾” carries the meaning of diligence and hard work—but literally, it also refers to a kind of bloated water insect.
yurikalily.bsky.social
That said, I actually have some personal thoughts about Takei choosing the character “黾” for the name.
yurikalily.bsky.social
But whether she takes after Ren or his wife, she would still be their beloved child. Also, since Ren cares deeply for and loves his sister Jun, I feel like that could be another factor in why he’d wish for a daughter.
yurikalily.bsky.social
So he’d probably hope that their daughter would inherit his wife’s looks. As for hair color, I personally imagine it leaning more toward his wife’s side too.
yurikalily.bsky.social
I think Ren would want a daughter. At least, that’s how I see it. Ren is the type who really loves his wife’s appearance and feels proud of her beauty. If someone asked him what kind of woman or what kind of face he likes, he’d directly answer, “My wife.”
yurikalily.bsky.social
When the two of them are together, they’d give off this powerful “handsome aura,” with lots of women nearby wanting to approach but not daring to.
yurikalily.bsky.social
As for Lyserg, that goes without saying, but I also feel Ren would be a polyglot. Besides Chinese and English, he’d probably know several other European languages too.
yurikalily.bsky.social
I really want to see adult Lyserg and adult Ren together, both of them discussing deep topics like politics, national affairs, economics, and finance—the kind of conversations that would leave Horohoro completely baffled.
yurikalily.bsky.social
Horohoro and Yoh, on the other hand, are the typical ones who like drinking but can’t actually handle much at all. 😂
yurikalily.bsky.social
I imagine his wife as the type who doesn’t want him drinking too much and ruining his health, though she’d understand if it were for social occasions. Since Ren truly loves his wife, he’d keep his drinking moderate.
yurikalily.bsky.social
As for Ren, I feel like if he really went all out, he could be on par with Lyserg. But Ren would hold back because he wouldn’t want to make his wife worry.
yurikalily.bsky.social
For me, Lyserg is definitely number one. He gives off the vibe of a regular at a bar, someone who really knows about alcohol. He’d probably enjoy a glass of red wine at night and even have a wine cabinet at home. 🍷
