Too many kids, too much debt. Having leadership that does bail you out when you really fuck up (E-1 to E-4 anyway). Just being in the military doesn't absolve you from poor choices.
Also going to the food pantry before the pain really starts is just good planning.

Timbuktu is also a real place, just east of Mauritania in Mali. The only notable thing about Mauritania though is that real live chattel slavery by descent still persists. The entire country only outlawed it pro-forma in 1981 but burden of proof is on the victims etc.
Is telling people to fuck off often an effective strategy? I'm not sure which 'plant' we're on but it's not like they voted en-bloc, the statistics there mirror the statistics of the entire country. Democrats (though not a better option really), just didn't show up.
You never want to hold a trial in the street because you aren't going to win. Compliance makes them look like fools. Especially after the fact. Judicial review is where the real decisions are made.
