The #1 red flag I've learned is people who are always talking about the things they're planning on doing but never the things they're actually doing, as in they're always fantasizing about starting *something* but they never do.

My Dad asked me once why I take so many selfies now, he told me it was vain and self centered.

I told him, my body was a prison for my entire life and I hated how I looked. Now I love how I look, I want to share it, I'm free.

In a rare moment for him he nodded and said "that's a good point"

In the past we'd make jokes like "haha this is so dumb it could be in Robocop" and usually we're being a little bit hyperbolic but now we're at the point where if this appeared unaltered in Robocop Paul Verhoeven would have to cut it because it's too silly for the tone he was going for.

I'm autistic too, I get it. I guess when I'm upset I'm *more* autistic so I have trouble just appreciating that people are saying something to be nice even if it doesn't make perfect sense.

I am generally a positive person, and I understand that some people respond well to optimism, but when I'm in distress I need facts and reasoning, optimism without justification just pisses me off because it's like why are you wasting my time on this bullshit we have problems to solve.

I used to work as a medical dispatcher and one of the first things I learned on calls with people who were in medical emergencies is never use phrases like "I understand" or "it's going to be okay" unless you can back those off, that just pisses people in distress off.

I really really hate when I'm upset about something that's real and people tell me "you're going to be okay" or "it's going to be okay." I understand you're trying to be supportive, but the whole reason I'm upset is because I don't know if things are going to be okay. You're lying to me.
