Arsenal, food and politics. Mostly Arsenal. Especially these days
@amylawrence.bsky.social Tonight’s wine wasn’t a Fuck Off victory BUT it was unlike any win I can remember. Do you remember any one that was so assured and confident and established Arsenal confidently at the absolute top level of world football? And what should such a win be called?

Small moment but the way we broke the press there was gorgeous

Mosquera’s positional timing looks ever so slightly off…just a consequence of not playing much on the left?

Let us not also forget that that corner was earned through the brilliant hard work of Zubimendi.

There’s obv a long way to go BUT, I’ve watched a LOT of Ars v Bayern in last 25 years and, more than any one I can remember, this just feels like a normal match. Yes, the opposition is v high quality (and loss/draw def still possible) but this doesn’t feel like a mismatch at all. SUCH a difference.

This is the kind of game where Zubimendi’s quality and what he brings to the squad is really apparent. He’s just so good

Michael Olise is just a really exciting, dangerous player.

A little concerned at why Mikel won’t put on fresh legs.

Again, if it takes 5 minutes what the fuck are you even doing. All these checks should have a time cap on them.

What on earth could explain Liverpool’s loss of form? Hmmm…Salah hasn’t been thermonuclear. They didn’t strengthen defense or midfield. And they lost a generational talent in TAA. Gosh. What could it be?

Are City that good or Liverpool that bad?

We really need our attackers back. Missed Ødegaard and Kai a lot against Sunderland.
Arsenal have played six of the bottom seven teams so far in the Premier League.

They have only played three of the top seven and dropped points in all three matches. Two more of the top seven in their next two fixtures.

I don’t understand why teams don’t use “gimmick” defenses against Man City. Have 1 man assigned to mark Haaland the entire game, follow him everywhere. Play the rest of the game 10 v 10. I know, it’s a positional nightmare but still…just shut down MonsterBoy and take your chances with everyone else

There’s just something about this year’s Arsenal that feels different. In a good way

Apropos of nothing: I really hope Declan Rice is enjoying himself this season. Just seems like it’s what he wanted when he joined. So happy he can get it.

How the hell does Haaland keep getting so many chances? Some of it is him and the balls from Cherki et al but, man, defense seems naive

Thomas Frank looks like he’s haunted by something.

You can really see the difference between the players who are first team regulars vs others when it come to pressing
