YouTube's new automatic dubbing feature is dumb as fuck, and there's no way to apparently disable it permanently from the viewers' end. Only the content creators can turn it off on their channel, if they even know how, or that it exists at all.

one insidious thing about gen AI is it's not just causing us to mistrust dodgy images, it's also making us mistrust images that look perfectly normal. this is gaslighting in a very literal sense bc the technology is undermining the trust we have in our own ability to perceive reality!

Having seen this, I’ve got to say, the KPop Demon Hunter fans need to re-discover Final Fantasy X-2, where you play a girl band who changes fighting classes by changing dresses and has no less than two concerts on the way to saving the world from a giant weapon.

Almost all of the revenue I get from things I have written (non-fiction or academic) comes from libraries. I always say 'get your library to order it' because that is literally the best way to support me and make work like mine available to a wider audience

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.
