Exciting news! My article, "Quarantine Scenes in Staten Island History," is now live on the Gotham Center for NYC History Blog! From yellow fever in the 1700s to COVID, S.I. has long been at the center of NYC’s quarantine battles, which sometimes sparked rebellion. Read & share! #publichistory #nyc

The Second Amendment was meant to prevent events like the Boston Massacre — just, not like that. Not by flooding cities with guns, but by avoiding those situations in the first place. www.hnn.us/article/depl...
Deploying Federal Troops to U.S. Cities Is a Second Amendment Issue
But not because the founders wanted to see more guns in the hands of Americans.

Rudolph gets all the love, so let’s talk about the names of Santa’s other reindeer.

dasher | noun | one that dashes
dancer | noun | one that dances
prancer | noun | one that walks or moves in a spirited manner

Ok, those three are easy to understand.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

My super Catholic mom never approved of me going to the Episcopal Church. But I took her to Advent Lessons & Carols at St. Bart’s yesterday & she loved it. She even went to the chapel after the event to get Communion w/ a female priest presiding. I never thought I’d see that. My heart is full. ⚓️🕯
