Disappointed to see this. 160 union workers are fighting for a fair contract at Individualized Shirts, a US factory that makes high-end men's button-ups. The managers there have rejected the union's request for fair wages and health insurance. The union is asking for support 🧵

Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol made $95 million last year. His workers are striking for the bare minimum. Glad to be on the right side of the picket line with them.

My Transition Co-chair Lina Khan and First Deputy Mayor Dean Fuleihan joined Starbucks workers on the picket line today because making NYC affordable means an end to unfair labor practices and a living wage for our workers. We are their partners in the fight to live in this city with dignity.

THIS IS INCREDIBLY INSPIRING!

Please watch and share as Starbucks baristas demonstrate outside the company's biggest distribution hub.

They're on DAY 7 of their strike. Baristas and their allies are protesting Starbucks’ serious and unresolved unfair labor practices.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

JD Vance claims that diversity weakens unions, as people end up distrusting each other and not organizing.

Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵

This remains my favorite Twilight Zone ep. Oddly enough helped me process the loss of a relative when I was a kid. I had “what you thought would go out like an explosion is like a whisper" written on my bedroom wall for a long time. I hope this ep still helps people process.
Robert Redford playing a gentle incarnation of death, coming for a frightened old woman in The Twilight Zone episode "Nothing in the Dark" (1962). An extraordinary performance then, terribly bittersweet today

just saying again that the specifics of how/why this strategy worked are worthy of study from people trying similar campaigns. read about it in @hammerandhope.bsky.social (link below)
You know us already: no stale politics formulas, all guerilla strategy that moves the city. It's how while Cuomo & Co. spent $89 a vote, we spent just $1.19. It's how we made hating Cuomo a citywide phenomena with 1/350th his funds. And it's how we'll beat their SuperPACs again.

I’ll tell you this. A favorite campus dining spot closed last semester, with almost no notice. It’s been replaced by a fully automated kiosk. The kids are pissed. Asking all the right questions about labor and human contact and sociality.
