I'm a British winemaker living in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain. I like the outdoors.

I suppose the Singapore record wasn't by much? I would have thought there'd be very little variation on the equator. Do you happen to know what the previous record was?

Something unusual for me tonight: Pineau des Charentes. It's kind-of a fortified wine where Cognac is blended with grape juice: the inverse of most fortified wines where the spirit should be flavourless & the wine dominant. This is an aged one & is gorgeous with the grapes sweetening the spirit.
Fui a un "Udon" el otro día. No podía entender como pedir con mi móvil y tuve que marcharme a un sitio que sí tenía gente.
We finally got the #winery cleaned-up, post harvest.

More amazing colours in #Rioja this morning.
#Rioja still looking gorgeous at the moment. This #vineyard, like many around here, is co-planted with Viura and Tempranillo. Very easy to tell which is which at this time of year, Viura maintaining yellow leaves still.
#Rioja looking stunning, with morning mist and #autumnal leaves still hanging in there.
Great to be back at #Verema in Bilbao. Always nice to try some new #wines, like these small-production numbers from #Rioja.
Muy buenas fotos. ¿Dónde está?
#BarrioBar - one of my favourite spots in #Logroño. Fantastic tacos, good prices, and a cool urban vibe that's missing from just about everywhere else in town.
More pics from last night's excellent #wine party at #Roots #Logroño
Another beautiful sunrise. Probably the last clear one for a while, with breezy Atlantic weather steaming in now and lots more expected. Summer is officially over in #Rioja. No bad thing, as we could use some rain.
Amazing stats, that say it all
Beautiful #autumn foliage here in La #Rioja right now.
Beautiful #dawn this morning in the #Rioja wine region, with the Ebro valley off to the south and east, under a blanket of mist.
Out in #Logroño last night.
1) Chorizo sandwich and young #Rioja
2) Rías Baixas at #LaCanilla
3) Cute cheese plate at #LaCanilla
4) Surprise wine at #RootsRioja.
Tasted better than in looked!
There's not a lot of white #Rioja #Reserva around, this one had a lot of flavour and power, beneath a slighty furniture polish, oxidised exterior. (This was actually a sample from a bottle that had been opened a day, so is prob fresher in real life).
Clearing out our winery, now that harvest is done.
Lots to do still, but nothing is urgent and no weekend working.
Last tank (Graciano) dug and #harvest 2025 at #BodegasObalo #Rioja is a wrap!
It's a 1100L concrete tank.
I got it because we've started doing smaller lots than the winery was sized for when it was built. The idea was for whites. My whites are too woody, so I wanted a neutral component as well. And it gives me something to talk about with journalists, it makes us a bit cooler
Pumping over our #Graciano.
The last grape harvested and still fermenting.
