I can almost guarantee Preston Manning has never given a thought to Indigenous rights in his entire career.
Simply put, if First Nations in Alberta didn't want to leave Canada, Alberta ain't going anywhere. The Secession reference guarantees no outcomes, it only requires 'negotiations'. The constitutional amending formula applies. As does, I'd argue, the honour of the Crown re: Indigenous peoples. 3/3

“We must be prepared to defend our sovereignty-not just with military spending, but with a population that is engaged, trained and ready.” Great piece by @petermacleod.bsky.social about how Canada needs a Civil Defence Force where every Canadian has a role to play. 🇨🇦💪 thetyee.ca/Opinion/2025...

Someone has to confirm for me if this truly exists in Vancouver.
I feel like Oslo is not ready for this type of activism but given how badly cars don't seem to understand pedestrian crossings it's probably justified

The more I hear about Queens Marque restaurants the less I want to support them. The food is always good but I can't see my way to supporting illegal work practices like this. I see a lot of online chatter about them confiscating tips as well.

Waking up to no power threw my entire day off. I am used to easing into the morning with my Nespresso. I've now been up for 2 hours and only getting my coffee now.

It may be bleak mid February but my hibiscus is a determined reminder of heat and sun 🌺

Heat Pump Installation Day One:
Frantic shovelling out of the driveway, sidewalk and road as the plow did not go down our side yet.
Workers currently draining hot water tank - if I'd known it was going today I'd have taken a long luxurious bath.

On a related note, does anyone know oil delivery places that will bring just a small amount? Our usual places does a minimum of 350 litres and we should only need enough for a week or so.
I'm never getting this fucking heat pump, am I.

Wednesday was the new date for work to start.

Heat pump conversion rant. We were supposed to have our oil furnace replaced with a heat pump today. This has been months coming. We had the energy assessment done in July, quotes in Sept, all the funding application stuff in Oct/Nov. It's been a journey.

I think it's wishful thinking that the busses will start at noon. Fortunately most places have opted to close so there's less pressure on staff to get there.

Update: it has actually been postponed.
We are supposed to go to a funeral service this afternoon and I'm not sure we will be able to get there.

Do funerals ever get postponed? I mean it would be terrible for the family but also awful if no one can make it.

Remember when CBC had a Storm Centre page that listed all the cancellations and closures like this? And then they got rid of it for no stated reason?
Heads up - Buses are shutting down at 1pm today according to a source
