Mayor-elect Katie Wilson just announced her transition team, with 61 members overseeing different policy areas. Transition teams are largely an expression of values and policy focus, although I expect some of these folks will end up in the administration. publicola.com/wp-content/u...

Here’s a Seattle Times article about this building and CAM, and how they are going to turn a dilapidated brick building in Belltown into affordable housing, artist residencies, and cultural space.

I’m going to shout out Burien City Council member @hugo4burien.bsky.social for his continued work and advocacy on how to keep our community safe and whole.

We are lucky to have great leadership, even when parts of the city administration refuse to take appropriate action.
Outside Seattle, the suburbs are often hubs for Latino and first-generation immigrant communities. Reports of ICE arrests in some of those smaller cities have been trending over the past weeks, although the official numbers are tough to pinpoint.

Just going to take a moment to shout out all of the amazing transit advocates in Seattle who have spent *so much* time and energy shaping and pushing our local conversations around transit access and funding and quality.
Yea I agree but I think it’s much easier to have that mindset in Seattle

Any time we have a discussion about transit service that is entirely based on the framework of austerity, I think about how much money we spend at the local, state and federal level to satiate and subsidize the fossil fuel and car industries’ profits 😭😭😭
I think WSDOT is spending like, 5 BILLION DOLLARS PLUS right now widening highways in King and Pierce counties.

25%+ of Seattle (much less the rest of the roads across the county!) do not have basic infrastructure like sidewalks.

Priorities lol
(yes, we are totally widening our urban highways in the Seattle area too-it's not just Texas)
"...In fact, WSDOT is in active litigation against the contractor for missing the construction deadline. The litigation actually began in 2023 as it became clear the project was falling behind."

Like adding Limited stop service at peak may be a great way to increase ridership without screwing people who actually do need to have bus stops close to where they live.

9. Finally, ST needs to consider using RIGHT OF WAY. Don't tell us our 100' wide Fauntleroy Blvd and 35th Ave ROWs are off limits to light rail, there's just no way other major global cities wouldn't be considering them first for route placement.
Also, IMO, a 35th alignment should be considered.

6. WSLE needs to be viewed as not a dead end, but as phase one for going thru White Center/Burien to SeaTac. This means visualizing a whole different urban environment for the peninsula than the one that exists now, with capacity for density dramatically increased that's almost hard to imagine now.

I have been yelling about this for 15 years that it was absurd to build a light rail station with non-signalized freeway ramps. WSDOT still on track to wait til 25 years after the light rail station opens to fix anything. Close the ramps now.
Also NONE of this will work (or is working) for transit riders traveling north bound on Rainier without dedicated bus-only lanes south of Massachusetts. In these designs, and in the current situation, the bus gets stuck behind cars queuing in the right lane to get on I-90.

Yep. See also the analysis we got out of data for SR18. Their models from 15+ years ago didn't turn out. But essentially same methods used to project dire consequences for 2045. No consideration of mode shift (or land use reform to discourage ex-urban housing development).

Idk what stage this is at, but it was eye opening when we prodded about the Route 8 study (which SDOT took as fact) but it just counted cars in 2 lanes then multiplied delay by two for adding a bus lane. No factoring in of mode shift, alternate routes, etc. I'd imagine that's what WSDOT is doing too
