It's incredible how much Powerful Owls can change how they look. This female went into what we informally call "raptor mode", making herself look hawk-like, when a Blue-faced Honeyeater started bothering her. We've seen Owlets do the same on their 1st day out of the hollow.

I use photos as a reference, however my best efforts seem to be birds I know well and see day to day, as I can include character. Maybe that’s why I find Owls tricky. I’ve had a few attempts at them - here are some that are ok. 🪶
