After their former teacher left over the summer to take a teaching position at a different school, students of Pocahontas County High School in West Virginia decided to teach themselves.
“We’d played together for years — we’re like a family,” said Hailey Fitzgerald. “We didn’t want to see it end.”

A high school band teacher quit. Now, the students teach, direct themselves.
“We’re still hopeful that we’ll find a band instructor, but for now, our students are making it work,” said Joseph Riley, principal of the W.Va. school.

Are there any solid news feeds people like to follow? Preferably includes US news, but worldwide news is of course welcome. One thing about the other app I liked so much was the ease of following news, but I haven't found a good feed here yet. Threads is... not it. lol

Most people know that major publications write obituaries of prominent people before the subjects have died. Still wild to see that the guy who *wrote* the NYT obit for Bob Barker died before Barker did.

My favorite thing about BlueSky so far is that someone created a feed for Fountain Pens and was able to share it with me, so now I have an entire feed dedicated only to that and it makes me happy :)
