Having to fight for welfare just to survive whilst extremely unwell is one of the grave social injustices of our time.

The damage it does to people with M.E. can be irreversible.

My heart breaks for all of us going through this. Where the hell is the compassion?

In my post yesterday, I shared how the battle for sickness benefits was one of the factors that led to my ME/CFS progressing to a severe level—more precisely, to a very severe level in June 2022. (I have been unable to work since November 2019.) 1/11

ME/CFS patients have been neglected for decades. Our rights have been and continue to be violated. We are constantly gaslit by medical professionals and other institutions that should be helping us. 1/11

Cutting benefits does not make disabled people able to work.

Removing remote work does not make disabled people able to work.

Accommodating people’s needs does however allow more disabled people to work and thrive.

I spend 23.5 hours a day in bed.

I watch the light patterns dance across the wall and shapeshift as the hours go by.

7.30am is particularly perfect right now.

I’m finally getting window blinds tomorrow. Light is hard to bear these days.

M.E. doesn’t leave us with much.
