I spent the morning volunteering at the food bank. They had a big group scheduled in to volunteer. 9 people showed up out of 30. The regular volunteers made a big impact today.

Did my best to fill the blessing box at the local college campus. There were 3 people a few hours apart today doing their best to help out by adding more items. One person had the brilliant idea to leave a notepad for suggestions of items. I think we are the blessing box aunties.

The frost last night ended the summer impatients on the front porch. It’s November, I was able to enjoy them for quite some time. I need some more pansies. I made some wonderful tortilla soup for supper. A good/busy day.

There was a pop up sale at the museum today. No takers for my 2:00 tour. I did buy some cute gifts….with my 15% docent discount. I hacked down the giant lantana plant in my front yard. It will be back again next spring. Winter is coming. 🥶

Funerals or no funerals? A local friend died this week and I’m a hard pass on attending tomorrow. I’m definitely not having a funeral but I don’t disparage those that do. Just as I am ok with not attending. I also think flowers are for the living to enjoy. So no flowers when I die.

Lots and lots of thanksgiving cookie decorating today. I will add the final touches tomorrow. Since I had everything out I decorated some fudge covered Oreos too.

Morning shift at the food bank warehouse. We went from a group of 4-6 to 18. We packed 210 boxes for seniors in just over an hour. It was a great friendly group of people. ⭐️

Feeling a little better today. Mailed some cards, finished a scarf and watched trick or treaters from a distance on the security camera. I had about 25 kids again this year. Home tomorrow for a few hours.

Today’s gratitude…an afternoon of knitting. I finished a baby sweater and a scarf. I then totally frogged a mostly done hat. I was just not loving it one bit. The yarn is now in a time out until further notice.

Handing out non-candy treasures at the museum today. Some adorable first time trick or treaters. One day they will ask their parents “who is that lady in the picture with me?” Thankfully no one dropped a house in me. I did have the correct socks.

I repotted the indoor plants that have enjoyed summer on the front porch. They’re back inside the house. They may move to different spots. I mowed the backyard and mulched the leaves at the same time. Rest of the day feet up and knitting with the really good yarn.

I’ve suspected for a while that a cat has been sleeping on one of my front porch chairs. Caught on the security camera the past two nights. I might have bought some kitty treats for my porch kitty today. Ella is definitely not a cat lover. But porch snoozing is ok.

2 new security cameras set up today. The handy man also replaced two non-working spotlights in the backyard with two motion activated lights. Someone tried to get into my backyard and jammed both gates. Time to step up security. Sigh…better to be prepared.
