This is desperately sad!
This is cause for serious concern.
Heartbreaking. The University of Nebraska will terminate its entire Earth science department.

One of the country's most successful and respected geology & climate programs: gone.

When ideologues & politicians are threatened by the very act of studying climate change, I wonder: who of us is next?

Sometimes people tell me that I exaggerate when I say that the US openly hostile towards Europe. The NSS speaks a very clear language though, and it is a hostile one.
Europeans are waking up this morning to find the new US National Security Strategy (quietly) released. And what it has to say on Europe could not be clearer. On the „stark prospect of civilizations erasure“ for example. 👇

Slay me, who'd have thought it?
Brexit ‘badly damaged’ our economy says David Lammy, the deputy prime minister also says rejoining the EU customs union would boost economic growth. More and more people are realising the sky doesn’t fall in when you tell the truth about Brexit!

Arrest this fool for sedition.

My favourite thrips is good old "kakothrips pisivorous."

Its name literally means "a bad thrips, pea-eating" and that's exactly what it does.

I curse it every year, but smile at the same time as I watch its wriggly little larvae in my pea pods. It does relatively little damage, so I tolerate it.
