A week on, the nephew is doing great following his accident, all things considered. 4 days in ICU, now he just needs to be restful and not do any contact sports or ride a horse or a motorbike or a ski biscuit or any shenanigans for 3-6 months, good luck to my sister

At the very last heartbeat with only Mass and prize giving to go, he went of his own accord and hired a blazer and will wear his pins for one day 🤣 I can’t decide whether I’m disappointed or delighted.

My Y13 has refused to wear “number ones” at school on the grounds it goes against the purported egalitarian intention of having a uniform and also won’t wear academic pins because how can you say it’s important to be humble and then have a group of kids wearing pins saying how smart they are.

Today we have the funeral of my youngest uncle, the fourth of my mother’s siblings not to make it to retirement age. At the same time, my youngest nephew is in HDU at Waikato following a dirt bike accident so I’m not having a great time, broadly speaking.
