A relative coming to tell me some big medical news and not being able to get the parking sorted and struggling with the horrible app crying so instead of giving her a.cup of tea in my flat im on the road talking her through the process is a particularly unpleasant memory

we ask history to stand in symbolically when justice in our lifetimes seems out of reach. the human lifespan is the real measure of history. eg, in a hundred years when no one alive remembers a 'normal' climate getting 'back' there won't seem like a real request.
People love to say "history is watching" like it'll really move the political needle, but if you google "was ti" it'll auto populate to "was titanic a true story." History isn't watching shit.

the results have been great. god bless insane medics.
Minor procedure yesterday. Just me and one other man in the waiting room. He looks like he's been out all night - hair a tangle, suit a mess - and has fallen asleep in his chair. He's snoring. Then he suddenly gets up and leaves.

Nurse calls me through. There he is... the doctor.

no wonder trump's after it then
Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

the right having turned fully evil would be so much less scary if the centre and left weren't full of corrupt wimps

I just smiled spontaneously at a man in a cafe and he looked really offended.

He was simultaneously annotating 'Orientalism' and tapping his feet to 'I Will Survive' over the cafe speakers. And mouthing the words.

I found this sweet!

This is "The Window" by Archibald Hattemore from 1931 which was the last year that Arch exhibited with the Group. The painting was once owned by the American fashion designer, Bill Blass. #ArchibaldHattemore #EastLondonGroup

I sometimes genuinely wonder if our society deserves to survive.

yes we can [call fascism inefficient and a bit naughty]
Obama: "The weird videos of a US president with a crown on his head flying a fighter jet & dumping poop on American citizens - that's not even worth booing about. Because all of that is a distraction from the fact that your situation, your life has not gotten better. They do it so you won't notice"

Kyla has a gift for surprise. Her last lines are like koans - something you can't put your finger on clicks into place. Your perception shifts. She's a fine, original contemporary voice.

I generally don't like to buy a book of poems without seeing a little example, so here is a breakfast-appropriate selection from Becoming Altar: The Devilry of Eggs.

Kind of cool that one of these men is about to be Prime Minister of Holland.

Asylum seekers, housed in hotels in Manchester, are reaching out in their own words to address the concerns of the local community.

Please take a minute to read their letter, & share it with the people in your life who need to hear the truth about the people they are protesting.

I so wish brits, as a nation, were able to care as much about each other as we do about our pets. The scrupulous love we lavish on any animal in need as long as its not human makes me slightly sick.

I'm sorry but i always think jewel thieves are kind of fabulous. I'm sure there are a million reasons why this feeling is problematic and i should shed it but seriously, 'armed with small axes'? In the louvre? Why isn't all bad news like this

The irony that our most violent football lovers regularly caused havoc in host countries also lost on Jenrick
Jenrick casting 1980s British football hooliganism as something that was easily dealt with by police and not an era defining issue which we're still living with the consequences of today... He's genuinely the most unserious person in British politics rn

Turning Point UK praised this march. But we must remember - liberal sage Ezra Klein told us its founder was 'doing politics the right way.'

DDL is such a diva. The only thing that makes him bearable is that his initials are two away from BBL. At least that's funny.
