I'm being entirely neutral. I don't "support" GW. I'm just used to them pulling this kind of move. This is turd vs. poop. My main concern is that poop is seeking to grift people for money at the same time.

GW had two options - the first is to go for a whack-a-mole approach where they catalogue specific items he's currently selling, allowing him to go straight back to copying future releases the minute they turned their back, restarting the whole process.

Or they can just shut down his whole business.

But this isn't a story of David and Goliath. It's of a hack getting caught red handed and then grifting the public for sympathy so he can once again parasite on others. A plague on both houses, to my mind.

This guy then just copies the results of their labour and sells it cheaper because he's parasiting on GW's work. Now he's going cap in hand to his market to pay for his legal costs too.

Now, I don't care for GW. It's a corporate entity driven by greed and the lust for ever greater shares of wealth.

"Unfair competition" is an Italian legal term. This is being pursued in the Italian courts. The "unfair competition" refers to the fact that GW take on the cost and labour to produce these designs (the RnD, product development, concept artists and so on) and cultivate the IP and rules set.

He's got a good business model of copying GW products, filing off the serial number and selling them. He doesn't want the free ride to end.

And he's asking other people to pay his legal fees. He hit his target, "legal fees" then raised the amount to get more money.

He's set up a fund raiser and purposefully not included any of his 40k kits that got him noticed, which is a lie of ommission. He's been riding GWs design team's coat rails for years and undercutting GW whilst making profit. He claims this is about "artistic expression", but it's not.

GW aren't going to play whack-a-mole with a guy whose built a company around releasing torrents of stuff that copy their work. They want him gone because of the intellectual property theft. Now, we can have our views on the shitty nature of GW, but...

He's been pushing out stuff like this on an industrial scale for years. His LoV stuff is so on the nose it's got nostrils.

The reason other creators saw lenient treatment is that they were producing parts - rhino doors, shoulder pads. He's making entire knock-off kits and selling them for profit.

Eh, we all do it. And I'm not about to pretend GW isn't an inherently greedy and profit driven organisation.

But this guy's grifting people and conveniently leaving out key facts. In this case he's guilty as sin and is lying to people to get them to send him money.
