Where is there no effort into forcing banks to offer access to online banking APIs via OAuth2, and have them rely on services like Plaid or Yodellee, where you often have to use your banking creds ...

I know of a place that chose to splinter from the British empire just because the army was used to quell riots and shot civilians, in this small little town called Boston…

Wait a second
“.. A top US military official has ordered the national guards of all 50 US states .. to form ‘quick reaction forces’ trained in ‘riot control’, including use of batons, body shields, Tasers and pepper spray, according to an internal Pentagon directive ..”

Are ethics and morality human values? Or were they just part of some social pact that we are collectively not enforcing anymore, as it is not as profitable?
"The protocol taught us that technology can be based on human values like ethics and morality. It showed that voluntary compliance works when all parties benefit."

This is depressing and hilarious. I call it deprarious ...
Somehow this came across my feed on X and this is genuinely hilarious. Tablet Mag is arguing that a performing arts center in New York is actually a secret Kaaba, because... uh... it's a cube? And the Kaaba is a cube? And they both have some marble on the outside, so check-mate libs.

A french mathematician and philosopher went to see a stable in a farmhouse, and found it empty. They really put Descartes before the horses.

I am still very much cross that, in the name of government efficiency, the automated update of your Social Security record when you naturalize (or when you get a EAD) is suspended. So much for govt. efficiency ....

I am trying to update my citizenship info with the DMV and I cannot do so because there are no appointment slots in the visible future !
Clear moment of panic from DHS as they realized that they were about to have TSA turn away over half a million people a day at airports.

Regardless, if that many people are getting extra screenings, get to the airport EARLY.
(AP) - Homeland Security chief says travelers with no REAL ID will be allowed to fly for now, but with probable extra steps.

Would you mind inquiring why SSA canceled Enumeration Beyond Entry for newly naturalized citizens?
It is heavily inconvenient to have to call the local office to get an appointment to update one's SSA record to reflect they are a citizen, while it was automated. TIA

Claiming that science is apolitical will not magically stop right wingers’ attack on science. They are against the science, not the politics surrounding it.

One should rather embrace the political side of science to push against said attacks.
