Pierogi Nazi. Glonzo did nothing wrong. Not really Giancarlo Esposito.
Chinese appear to have kept leopard cats thousands of years before the arrival of the domesticated cat. That friendship ended when the Chinese began keeping chickens.

A lot of people condemned Dr. Osborne, but I say it's easy to criticize until you've walked a mile in another man's shoes made out of another man.

Interesting and informative. Mexico wasn't a slave state because Spain forbade it. So colonists extracted tribute to the same effect.

"if you were building a road, you would force the indigenous peoples who pay that tribute through labor"
This Day in Labor History: November 20, 1536. The conquistador Hernán Cortés buys a bunch of Mexican silver mines and acquires between 100 and 200 Native slaves. This moment is an excellent entry point to discuss the labor history of early Spanish colonization of the Americas.

Defunding scientists for the nationality of who they co-author with or who they train.

One of the most radical attack on freedom of speech in US history. A far right nationalist destruction of US science. Such a shameful time to be an American that this racist stupidity has become mainstream.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

I haven't seen a centrist thought leader flayed like this since David Brooks spent $60 on airport booze and tried to blame the economy for his $78 tab.

I've said this before, but Europe needs to prepare for the dangerous times ahead.
I can’t help but wonder if the U.S. is quietly rolling NATO’s borders back to where they were before the Berlin Wall fell, a kind of subtle pullback that might hint at a shift in how Washington sees its role on the alliance’s eastern front.

WTF is DHS doing to detainees? This is like the kid that North Korea returned in a brain dead condition.

"He arrived back in Costa Rica with countless ulcers and unexplained surgical scars... with rhabdomyolysis and encephalopathy."
🧵This horrific story is being reported all over Latin America, but not the US.

Randall Gamboa, a Costa Rican, was deported from the US in such a critical health condition it required an ambulance flight.

He then died upon his return to Costa Rica after being detained for 8 months by DHS.
