The MLS Superdraft is less than three weeks away, and it’s hard to make a better case for its continued relevance than the fact that three of the Western Conference Finals starters came from the 2025 edition

the fact that nick fuentes isn’t here but ms rachel is illustrates perfectly that groups like this don’t actually care about antisemitism at all

Man this got me thinking and crazy enough, I think first round draft picks might hit at a higher rate than U22’s. Keep in mind the minimum standard here is “still starting some games at MLS level or higher”, a bar most U22’s struggle to clear. Let’s remember some dudes. 🧵🪡
There are, of course, a lot more players drafted and even signed from the draft every year than signed to u22s. It’s obviously a useful talent acquisition tool but any one pick still pretty unpredictable.

There are more college soccer players who started in the MLS conference semi-finals than u22 initiative players. Including several young guys! The MLS super draft is unironically still more important than the u22 program.

Literally no studies have shown this to be the case in mls as evidenced by Vancouver and their 21st ranked payroll.
It turns out spending money DOES lead to success. (As every study and multiple books have shown for years.) Someone tell the #Sounders!!

Ok my hot take is that Messi getting to a final and losing would be the best possible marketing. The whole “is this even a success? Can they do it” story is much better than “can they do it again”
MLS Cup a great matchup between one of the best MLS teams I’ve seen in a long time and the Apple Corporation.

Like a lot of what makes it fascinatingly incoherent is straight from the show, but film has much less margin for vibes based themes, and every attempt they make to add to the source material to address the issues actually make it worse. They double down on the worst impulse of the show and it rocks
Holy shit Wicked pt 2 is a DISASTER. Like you could do a media studies thesis on it level catastrophe.

New Jersey may stop paying federal taxes under new governor
Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill said on a podcast with Jon Stewart it's a "great idea."

“My wokest opinion.”
"Being one of the few that isn’t aligned with the international calendar has us almost have an American exceptionalism," Don Garber said. "Saying that we’re going to play the game the way we want to play it, as opposed to the way the rest of the world plays it."

MLS will move to a winter-centric schedule in 2027
The plan is for the 2027-28 campaign to start in late July, stop from mid-December to mid-February, resume the regular season through April, then have the playoffs in May.

I think you’re right for now, but I think USL will follow suit sooner rather than later (for the pro -divisions. Obvs USL2 must be summer)
My take on the MLS calendar change is that this is a huge opportunity for the NWSL and USL

Suburban living inevitably creates reactionary politics, as it’s fundamentally extractive on a number of levels. The suburbs need to be leveled globally.

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

My most woke opinion is that the US is a settler slave colony and the world cannot be free until the anti-Black settler state ceases to exist

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
