I think all it’s going to take is a new Anne Rice type deciding hey I want a portion of the money from people who are profiting off fanfic of my ip or I don’t want people making and profiting off fanfic at all to make a fandom a totally different place for fan works

I think the fanfics turned books epidemic is ultimately going to be very bad for fandom, not that the concept of a fanfic getting its serial number filed off to become an original work isn’t new by any means what is new is publishers and authors advertising that its fanfic turned original work
