The task for the European team in Geneva today should be to channel Trump’s impatience for a ceasefire into a plan which respects Ukraine’s vital interests and its sovereign right to decide its own security arrangements - and doesn’t leave Europe paying the whole bill.

How did Robbie Gibb, who took over the Jewish Chronicle on behalf of an undisclosed owner, after which it lurched to the right and even printed fabricated stories about Gaza, get to be an arbiter on the BBC’s impartiality? The BBC is central to our democracy and deserves better.

Britain is experiencing an invasion - an invasion of Trump-inspired policies on culture wars, anti-migration, net zero and more. Today's attention seeking policy? Badenoch promises to 'drill the North Sea dry.' This is performative politics at its worst, and it is taking hold.

And so the slide begins. Cabinet Ministers and aides now briefing against Attorney General Lord Hermer for his insistence on adhering to the law, including international law, which is preventing them from pursuing their goals. So old fashioned, apparently. www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...
How do you solve a problem like Lord Hermer?

Truth decay seeps ever more into the UK from the USA, and our right wing politicians applaud and lap it up: Farage (as guest of honour) and Truss attend the UK launch of a US climate denial group with links to Trump and his donors.

Playing a long game is the right strategy for Starmer - results take time and may involve unpopular decisions - but successful PMs demonstrate vision, values and courage and it would be good to see more of that now eg what he means by a society of service. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The party’s manifesto promised big policy reforms. Now, with his popularity in freefall, the prime minister must deliver to change the political narrative
