Howdy all, my name is Gunnar & I draw skeletals in my free time (primarily of sauropods but other taxa as requested)! Have a Brachiosaurus to start, more to come!

My latest for @nytimes.com! For 40 years, paleontologists have grappled over whether a small tyrannosaur — named Nanotyrannus — was its own animal, or simply a teenage T.rex. The debate has been ... contentious. Which is why it's so fun to finally be able to say this:

Folks? Nanotyrannus is real.

New book out - Vertebrate fossils of Louisiana - and inside is a nice treat: the first publicly available images of the LSU Basilosaurus cetoides, hidden away for nearly fifty year since it was discovered. Initially described in a Ph.D. thesis, but a publication never followed. #whaleontology

Before the actual formation piece series started we occasionally did similar images on stream. This one is among the more educational.
I love hupehsuchians, they are only known from here.

The #sauropod #dinosaur Diplodocus carnegii is among the most iconic & classic of all sauropods. Thanks to more recent research into sauropod posture, a very different reconstruction of this classic taxon was created, & once again as a glorious quad multiview.

Trying to think of a skeletal to share that I haven't really discussed elsewhere, so here's my take on the skeleton of everyone's favorite giant flying reptile, Quetzalcoatlus. The 2021 monograph by Padian, et al. made this worth tackling.

Here are my #skeletalreconstructions of the two Dicraeosaurus species. A pair of interesting & very underrated sauropods.

Trying this again (testing using Feeds), here’s my #skeletalreconstruction of the new diplodocid sauropod Ardetosaurus viator! Very unique dorsal vertebrae for a diplodocid I must say. The Morrison continues to give us new strange sauropods…

The recently described titanosaur Inawentu oslatus is also one of the most important, as it greatly helps with elucidating the proportions of the poorly known antarctosaurids, of which primarily Antarctosaurus wichmannianus itself & Bonitasaura were used for the missing elements.
