Time for our quarterly update, and we’re starting with good news!

Coal generation in Spain 🇪🇸 has dropped 97% since the early 2000s, making up just 1% of the country’s power mix so far this year. The payoff? Cleaner air and 95% drop in emissions from coal power in ten years.

If you’re eligible for Shingrix, get it for the proven reason: to prevent shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia. That benefit is real and important. Any dementia risk reduction is a promising bonus hypothesis.

Yet another good reason to get the Shingles vaccine (Shingrix in the US): it may help prevent dementia due to repeated Shingles infections. (If you’ve had chickenpox, the varicella-zoster virus hibernates in your system and can erupt into Shingles.)
How a childhood virus can contribute to dementia later and what you can do
A new study suggests that the shingles vaccine may help prevent dementia by reducing the risk of varicella-zoster virus reactivation
