Important thread from Sophia which I helpfully buried halfway down another thread, in which she describes (some of) the extent of the harassment that hasn't until now been able to be made public. Feel free to save the screenshots, share wherever and get (some of) the real story out there.
Here's a thread from Twitter shared with Sophia's permission in which she finally is able to talk about Graham using the police as HIS personal goon squad and getting Sophia arrested at home by EIGHT armed police officers, somewhat putting the standard Heathrow armed cops in perspective.

There is a tiny, tiny silver lining here in that this means they can never possibly win. There is no world in which trans people just stop existing. A total ban on medical transition, removing our legal protections, banning us from public spaces... None of these will stop trans people existing.

Which should have been obvious from the wording of the bloody GRA. So... What can actually happen now? Is there any way to appeal the SC decision on the basis of this information?

We shouldn't try to invent our own versions of what is/isn't the petite bourgeoisie because unless everyone agrees on those definitions the term loses any value that it still has. 2/2
November 21, 2025 at 8:47 AM
Yes, I think people here "bourgeoisie" and think "enemy", but the social strata in existence today are so radically different from the past that these categories can't be thought of in the same way... But their definitions still apply until we devise new language to describe the strata of today. 1/
November 21, 2025 at 8:46 AM
It's certainly also useful to frame it in modern language that is easier to connect with the way people live today.

Being self employed necessarily means owning some means of production. But yes certainly they own a much smaller amount than the true bourgeoisie.

Or not of a social class that was defined a long time ago and that has lost at least some of its relevance. 4/4

And an artist or craftsperson don't seem so different.

I still agree that there is a distinction between those two groups (employers and non-employers), and perhaps we need a new definition for one of them. We certainly shouldn't apply value judgements to either group based on their membership 3/

Is that they own their means of production. Meanwhile the distinction from the bourgeoisie is that they 1) must work themselves and 2) are in an economically fragile position, they can't simply allow their wealth to accumulate. Considering these positions the owner of a shop with a few employees 2/

The issue is that these are social categories devised many years ago under extraordinarily different economic and technological conditions.

That said, I think the gap is less small than you might think. Regardless of whether you can hire someone, the crucial distinction from the proletariat 1/

I still remain stuck working for a living as I'm not able to apply those things.

If we just take it that anyone who owns anything that *can* be the means of production *does* own the means of production then modern technology means we basically all do. 2/2
November 21, 2025 at 8:10 AM
I would argue that owning the means of production as an artist means having the time and space to develop the artistic skills and taste needed to actually make a living as one. Yes, I own these things, I even own more specific things like paintbrushes, musical instruments, etc, but 1/
November 21, 2025 at 8:08 AM
I thought the petite bourgeoisie were those who owned means of production that they themselves use, and may or may not employ others (hence artisans, small businesses). What you're describing sounds like the bourgeoisie, and wouldn't describe, say, a sole trader who owns a workshop.

Seems like a lot but I think in the first 12 months I spent around £800 in appointments and a further £800 on blood tests... So not much less than the £1800 they're asking for the first year, if those are both included.
