Today has been a vibe-coding intense day:

First, my The Lawfare Institute article on vibe coding was released, read here: www.lawfaremedia.org/article/when-the-vibe-are-off--the-security-risks-of-ai-generated-code

Second, I gave a quick talk on vibe coding at the Gikii conference in Amsterdam.

Vibe coding poses serious security risks, read about it here 👇
Vibe coding, where large language models take over the entire software development process, would make programming accessible to everyone, but @carolinkemper.bsky.social warns it introduces severe and unpredictable risks to security and code quality.
When the Vibes Are Off: The Security Risks of AI-Generated Code
Vibe coding produces software riddled with insecurities. Will risk management and regulatory compliance, too, fall victim to the vibes?

Wow.
(Quelle: FAZ)

Bad vibes for vibe coding?

AI-generated code (aka vibe code) harbours many security risks.

The new EU Cyber Resilience Act aims to fix this, compliance can be feigned, leading to "vibe compliance".

It will take place,
it will take time,
it will take life,

If you've always wanted to get your own Boston Dynamics Spot robot, but with the ability to fire pellets and "pee", look no further: Temu has just the thing!

Robot dogs lifting legs to mimic peeing surely is an interesting approach for social robots 😅

For less than the cost of a round of drinks, a plasticized Boston Dynamics fever dream could be yours too.

Meta plans to replace humans with AI for risk assessments

AI-generated risk assessments are the next logical step after vibe coding - is this vibe compliance?

Meta plans to replace humans with AI to assess privacy and societal risks
Current and former Meta employees fear the new automation push comes at the cost of allowing AI to make tricky determinations about how Meta's apps could lead to real world harm.

I highly recommend this paper: It moves beyond narratives of superintelligence (whether dystopian or utopian).

Instead, it offers a framework for understanding and regulating AI as a "normal" general-purpose technology.
In a new essay from our "Artificial Intelligence and Democratic Freedoms" series, @randomwalker.bsky.social & @sayash.bsky.social make the case for thinking of #AI as normal technology, instead of superintelligence. Read here: knightcolumbia.org/content/ai-a...
