The freedom to read is essential to a functioning democracy because everyone deserves to see themselves in the books they choose.

Please join us by opposing book bans & censorship of the LGBTQ+ & BIPOC communities.

I'll be back to read these and thank you individually, but for now THANK YOU for all your kind help, Bluesky friends! 💙
Hey Bluesky friends, I'm finding lots of examples from poetry and songs, but does anyone have examples of flash fiction that takes on social issues / speaks truth to power / addresses injustice, etc.? Thanks. 💙

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month. A year later, nearly half of participants said they had housing.
Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

So, I got starter-pack FOMO and decided to make one for writing people who know stuff and pass it on through courses, workshops, newsletters etc.

It includes all the savants who teach me stuff. I've probably missed people but these were the ones who sprung to my head.

Are you a #writer or #reader just getting started on Bluesky?

I put together a list of many of the top literary magazines that have made the switch. Show them some love by following them and giving them the ability to leave Twitter for good.

Feel free to share and repost.
