Tapping the XKCD sign again to explain that no, I won't be seeing an aurora tonight. Or at least I really hope not. That would be bad. :)

One thing we've needed to do is build systems for communication. Upside down bottles means they're empty - they either need to be replaced or thrown in recycling - and they're out to make sure the other partner knows.

None of the universities I applied (or were considering) to were GRE optional. I purchased 1 math prep book, set time aside weekly, had to take time off of work to take the test, and decided I was taking it exactly once regardless of the score.
GRE prep costs hundreds of $ and time in studying, taking the GRE costs $, sending the GRE to schools costs $. It's a significant burden to applicants and might actually, according to these data, constrain who tries to get a PhD.

note that when someone talks about food aversion, or a caregiver of someone with food aversion talks about it, your common sense advice (make your own! Fake it with packaging! Buy this other brand!) isn't going to be helpful. It's not our first day. We've thought of it.

Practice your scripts ahead of time:
💠 "Oh wow, that's an inside thought, Uncle Jerry"
💠 "Mom, it's 2025 we don't comment on people's bodies anymore"
💠 "My doctor and I are happy with my weight."
You don't owe anyone an explanation.

I think it's worth pointing out as part of their business strategy that Ulta is expressly inclusive. I don't think I've been in an since I started transitioning where there wasn't another trans person shopping or working there. Beyond the morality of it, I think it plays to their accessibility. 1/?
For the cover of Businessweek’s December issue, I wrote about the reigning queen of America’s strip malls: Ulta Beauty, the country’s biggest beauty retailer (yes, bigger than Sephora) and quietly one of the more fascinating retailers in the country. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...
How Beauty Behemoth Ulta Conquered the American Strip Mall
The retailer built an $11 billion business by acting more like Home Depot than like Sephora.

Does anyone have a primer appropriate for undergraduate students on what Title II is/contains/requires?
And then this morning, I got this email:
"The recent updates to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act not only impact course content, but work submitted by students as well. Student submissions must be accessible, especially if intended to be reviewed by their classmates.

I'm seeing significantly less engagement on here since the new filters started. I'm not sure what that means, but it's probably not good.

I had an extensive dream that I canned the tomatoes in the fridge, so I guess I should check on those I bought a few weeks ago and process them tonight.
I also dreamt today was the weekend, so that was a bummer to wake up to

Due to poor planning on the part of another office, I won't have a remote day this week. I'm trying to be strategic about planning around not being home to take care of things and have realized I do not, in fact, need to do it all tonight.
