For fun, I built an “AQ Heist Counter” with Lovable + ChatGPT. It shows how often an October 2025 Louvre-level heist happens due to air pollution — and the real-time economic YTD losses by country. I'm shocked I was able to make something like this so easily with these tools. aqheist.lovable.app

OK semi-unserious air pollution BOTEC that I couldn't resist. Apparently, France loses the equivalent of a Louvre Heist in air pollution (outdoor PM2.5)-related health damages every 14 hrs. In India, that number is < every 5 hrs.

On my way to San Francisco, excited to share about one of the world’s largest - but quietest AND solvable - public health crises, air pollution, at the Masters of Scale Summit! And I’ve got these nifty ‘dots’ to help illustrate the issue. If you are there, check them out!!

In Africa, philanthropy invests about 5000 times less in air pollution per year of life expectancy lost due to the issue compared to other major health threats. According to the Clean Air Fund, less than 300k USD per year was spent on air pollution across the continent from 2015-2022.

Review: No one-size-fits-all solution exists for air pollution. Context matters. My takeaway: The fastest progress comes when funding supports long-term national & local projects — led with full local agency — not when local actors are treated like contractors.

My five year old, keeping it real: “When you die, Mom, I’m going to make a stone to put where you are buried, and it will say, ‘Mom is in the ground here.’ That won’t be for a while though. …Not because you won’t die for a long time, but I need to learn how to write that.”

The US Emb AQ program ending leaves a gash in global AQ info:

- 6 countries lost all AQ data
- 28 lost high-grade data
- 16 lost open high-grade data

The gash is mendable, and we can rebuild BETTER - with countries leading. But our community needs resources.

In Gambia w/ EPIC AQ Awardee Permian Health! They've deployed low-cost monitors nationwide+launched the 1st ref-grade monitor w/ the gov't. COOL to see them use data+trust built from data projects to now explore tackling high PM2.5 levels from things like fish smoking+making the 1st nat'l standards.
