It shows what a turnaround there has been in forensics that solving a crime without DNA is now considered headline-worthy. Until 1986 that was true for *all* policing (and they didn't have CCTV either!)

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... This has looked on the cards for several months. There are significant #Bioethics issues including #DataPrivacy [Far less significantly, it will also require me to redraft the relevant chapter of a book on #Genomics and Ethics that I've nearly completed]

*Proper* "Dignity in Dying" is about appropriate support for #PalliativeCare and hospices, not steam-rollering an #AssistedSuicide act which has raised serious cause for concern amongst so many with expertise in end-of-life matters www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

We are disappointed but not surprised that Meta has used millions of pirated books to develop its AI systems.

As a matter of urgency, Meta needs to compensate the rightsholders of all the works it has been exploiting.

But what can authors do? Read here:

Who could have predicted it?

Very sorry to see that Leicester City Council are closing many museums whilst focusing efforts on two already well-supported ventures. The Abbey Pumping Station (aka "The Poo Museum" in particular is a treasure which needs more not less support www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicest...

A while ago, I dictated notes for something I'm writing. Looking at them today, I was mystified to read "1960s female kitchen area". Was I having some random misogynistic day?
On checking back, I'm relieved to see it should have been "1960s phenylketonuria" #NewbornScreening

As someone who lives in the English midlands, with an active interest in #Bioethics, I'm horrified that it wasn't until Netflix #ToxicTown that I've become aware of the toxic waste scandal in Corby (1/)
