Tax cars by weight …
Great to visit the car dealership stunt at Parliament today by @transenvuk.bsky.social and @olord.bsky.social showing clearly just how huge and heavy cars have become making the case for fair tax by vehicle weight.

Update: The mains have been isolated and there is no flooding to the carriageway now. However, Gallery Road is to remain closed until repairs have been completed. The repair team are on site but have not started to excavate so we do not know how long it will take to complete the repairs.
Very disappointed to learn that there’s a big flood on Gallery Road in Dulwich Village due to yet another catastrophic water main burst - the responsibility of Thames Water. Gallery Road is currently closed at the south circular. We’re on the case with TW.

This is fantastic news and a strong testament to @london.gov.uk’s leadership and vision for cleaner air in #London. It demonstrates that effective policy truly makes a difference! Thank you, Sir Sadiq. Other cities and countries should look to London as a global leader in reducing #AirPollution.
London meets legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time – almost 200 years earlier than predicted – following the Mayor’s world leading air pollution policies
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, today hailed the success of his bold air quality policies which have led to the capital’s air pollution levels falling to within the legal limit for the first time.

“Across dozens of studies, long-term exposure to outdoor pollutants such as particle pollution, nitrogen dioxide and even carbon dioxide was linked to shorter or lower-quality sleep.”

“Filtering side streets hasn't just made internal LTN roads safer - it has made boundary-LTN junctions safer too.”
*Our new LTN paper out today*

Do 'boundary road' junctions with minor roads get safer when minor roads are filtered (i.e. closed to through-traffic)?

We tested this using police-reported casualty data (2012–24) from 113 London Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) introduced between 2015–24.

A big win for the community, especially the hundreds of children who now have a much safer route to school. Credit to Southwark Council for challenging car dominance. Let’s keep pushing for #StreetsForPeople!

I urge Londoners to look after themselves and protect those with conditions such as asthma. This includes refraining from engine idling and burning wood or garden waste.
