I think my name being common has always been funny to me. But the fact that there is at least one other person with my name publishing in the domains of womanism, afrofuturism, and STEM education continues to stun me.

Is this the power of a name?

“Gen Z has the lowest racial resentment of any generation ever studied.”

Important work from @jakemgrumbach.bsky.social that offers a clear explanation of why there is an intense push to change school curricula to make them more white supremacist

The Shocking Truth About Gen Z Voters Is That They’re Pretty Great
Stop panicking: They are the most progressive generation ever, especially on race. If that surprises you, you’ve been listening to the wrong story.

On this day in 1830, North Carolina passed laws that criminalized teaching enslaved Black people to read and that made the repeated dissemination of anti-slavery pamphlets punishable by death.

Gutted over the passing of someone I never really knew, but who was beloved by so many people I do know, and who was always, ALWAYS doing good.

I hope that the ripples of her life and work continue to reach people and make their lives better forever.

Anyone who’s ever used emergency contraception or gains peace of mind by even having it on hand owes Dr Camp a debt of gratitude. What a force.

(Also, I just learned one reason the FDA rejected it at first was that they said the name Plan B was too glib!)

Great obit—no paywall.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

Reminder.

Can we please get this Shona → English translation paid for? $2935 to go.

(We're out of time to fundraise for the Kiswahili book (Dunia na Watu Wake), but if anyone has $5000, that would fund it - I could get you in touch!)
Please, let's fund the translation of Zvinobvinza. It's been a long seven months.

Many thanks to the first cis white man who we see talk about the project.

At this point, we can't translate the third book unless someone can donate $5,000 (reach out directly) but we *can* close up these first two.

This is fascinating because this is such a new field and somehow they are going to hire 100 tenure-track faculty in the next 5 years who specialize in it. And yet when asked to fill spots with faculty of color/women/marginalized groups, administrators often cry about how the pipelines don't exist.
