I talked about the right lurch of the MB NDP months ago, and quit the party because of it. When the National Post starts endorsing you, you are no longer on the left or even center left. But again, the other choices aren’t great so the NDP can do this and still win.

I haven’t been on social media much recently but I thought I would post this short talk on fascism I did for the @broadbent.bsky.social institute last fall. Kind of bummed to be proven right about the new fascism.
New on the Perspectives Journal podcast: labour historian and Broadbent fellow @jonweier.bsky.social explains the through lines between early 20th century fascism, the far-right's rise across the West, and what this means for Canadian democracy.

For anyone wanting to understand a bit more about the discord between rural and urban or for those with a narrow view of Albertans. A good listen for all Canadians especially those who would like a true voice rather than a party one. Great interview!

We are living in an age of bullies. Those with power are less constrained today than they have ever been in my lifetime.

The question is: how do we lead moral lives in this era? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jul/28/bullies-moral-lives-robert-reich

A great question - « why aren’t Mark Carney and Wab Kinew talking about a clean energy revolution as a way to beat the tariffs and trade war? »

«We don’t have much time to get this done. »
