That's a big win for Dortmund to get one over Leverkusen, could prove vital in the race for a Champions League place come May. He'll always have his critics, but Adeyemi has now scored in three successive games - his goal today a superb header.

Although contracts mean very little nowadays in terms of players leaving, Cologne did well to tie El Mala down to an extension until 2030 before the season started - it means they'll hold all the power when it comes to negotiating a fee, in the eventuality he does leave. A standout talent.
Said El Mala is going to be something really special.

Borussia Mönchengladbach's first 8 Bundesliga games:
0 wins, 3 draws, 5 defeats - 18 goals conceded.

Their last 4 Bundesliga games:
3 wins, 1 draw - 1 goal conceded.

Gladbach playing with a new confidence under Polanski.

Gladbach-Leipzig not the greatest game, but have to commend Polanski's side. Unbeaten in their last 4 Bundesliga games (W3, D1) and have shored up their defence. 18 goals conceded in their first 8 games; just 1 goal conceded in their last 4.

What a moment in the Gladbach-Leipzig game. Honorat fired his side into the lead, but was judged to be offside by the VAR. This is about as marginal you can get. We're not entirely sure what part of the Gladbach attacker is actually offside.

Some words on tonight's Bundesliga game as a resurgent Gladbach, playing with renewed confidence & a desire to win, host high-flying Leipzig.

Very much like what Polanski is doing. But Werner has Leipzig playing some excellent football with Diomande & Baumgartner shining.

Words for Bundesliga.com.

Some thoughts from City-Leverkusen.

B04 showed no fear against a Manchester City where Nico Gonzalez remained the sole survivor from their defeat against Newcastle United, but it didn't affect Kasper Hjulmand's approach. B04 went to the Etihad with a gameplan, and executed it to perfection.

Bayer Leverkusen fully deserving of their 2-0 win over Manchester City tonight. Excellent in every area of the pitch. Players celebrate with their fans on a bitterly cold night.

Leverkusen executed their gameplan to perfection. Nothing less than they deserved. Excellent in every area tonight.

Ibrahim Maza has been excellent tonight. Developing an excellent understanding with Aleix Garcia in central-midfield. Garcia invites pressure, Maza finds space and progresses the ball. Great in tight spaces.

In place at the Etihad, alongside Jack, for City-Leverkusen. I'm cautiously optimistic for B04, who have been strong in the Bundesliga but have struggled when coming up against the 'big' teams.
Leverkusen’s XI

A lot of young players as there are a lot of injuries.

(8 players u19, plus Maza and Belocian who are 20)

🇩🇪 16 years ago, on November 10th 2009, former Hannover and Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Robert Enke committed suicide.

Ronald Reng's book 'A Life Too Short' details Enke's story.

It is also a reminder that if you are ever going through something, talk about it.

Similar to their defeat against Bayern, Dortmund left it too late before they started showing urgency and courage. Only when Kovac made four changes did they improve. That said, City were utterly brilliant tonight.

Very flat from Borussia Dortmund. Svensson moving into a central position when BVB in possession and then caught out when they lose it. Savio has his number. Rather comfortable from Man City.

In Manchester for City-Dortmund.

I'm expecting fireworks, no less.

Interesting to see how Dortmund's defence copes with Haaland and Co.

Thought Bayern were very impressive tonight. Outperformed PSG in the first half, and then showed defensive resilience in the second after Diaz's sending off despite late pressure and tired legs. Upamecano was excellent tonight. 16 wins to start the season.

Another disciplined Borussia Dortmund performance, but I do wish they would play with the handbrake off at times. Lucky to come away from Augsburg - who despite their troubles, impressed - with all three points. Jobe Bellingham with a notable game-winning challenge late on.
