Latine Heroes in Computer Science: Victoria C. Chávez developed an app that tells people which stores accept food stamps and works to make CS more accessible to students with disabilities. Drew “Dr. Woohoo” Trujillo leads multiple teams that merge technology, engineering, art, and math to create immersive art experiences that transport audiences to fantastic realms. Anielle Guedes founded and leads Urban 3D, a Brazilian start-up that 3D prints construction materials from recycled goods to quickly create buildings and infrastructure.

I hope that in the future being part of DOGE is such a mark of shame that they shunned by their families, friends, and every employer paying more than minimum wage (and shunned by other people who work with them at those jobs, too)
Trump’s March 14 order instructed the IMLS — which guarantees states and sovereign tribes can provide the public with free access to myriad services like early literacy resources, Braille books, internet access and STEM and cultural programs — to cease all operations, slash staff and provide a report to the Office of Management and Budget detailing proof of compliance. Within days, the Department of Government Efficiency descended upon the 75-person IMLS staff. All but a dozen were placed on administrative leave. Then, in early April, Sonderling terminated all IMLS grants except for those missed by human error, an IMLS spokesperson told NBC News.

Earlier this week I stopped by the State House library to visit with school librarians and spoke with the librarian from Lima Elementary in Providence. Our students deserve to go to schools with libraries and librarians, which is why I introduced the School Libraries Act. buff.ly/jewBs3U
