Not sold on the "science" label but interested in how can build on theoretical anthropology and philosophy. I'm curious about the rigor around central definitions of meme, culture, narrative, behavior, evolve, etc...

AI search is 5.6% of search traffic rn and has grown 126% yoy. 98% of chatGPT users still use google. They just route by query type now: LLMs handle more research/complex q's, search handles more transactional/navigational searches. Seems more like a behavioral split and not direct replacement.

One piece of social design I liked was on the reddit alt, tilde. The dev deliberately placed the reply box BELOW all replies, nudging users to read them and avoid retreading discourse.
I never used the site and can't say it scaled, but I think designers can make similar tweaks for tmrw's socmed

Super delicious food. Great value too. I was still full for an hour later! No lunch needed... :-)

Super disappointed in the quotes to this vv reasonable post. Not sure why stochastic parrot framework is left-wing doxa but it's probably time to start citing preprints... s-parrots alone cannot explain out-of-distribution behavior, latent spaces, etc.
LLMs are capable of certain forms of introspection and have really good theory of mind. They have increasing levels of situational awareness (which is making it difficult to test them because they know they’re being tested!) I personally don’t think they’re conscious but it’s not a settled question.

"You can just leave" is a hollow defense for sure, but it's the historical conclusion of the average user's (at best) apathy to centralization in mid-2023. The nights of throwing hammers and laughing at Mastodon's email metaphors are over

Jack's Lounge in the Baskin Engineering complex. An inletted strip of oak wood sits on the white wall above the table. I don't recall ever seeing redwood accents in or around any of the buildings, so far.
