According to Star Trek canon, MLB folds in 2042. So let’s enjoy baseball while we can.
I’ve decided I want MacKenzie Gore to be a Cub. The two teams line up nicely in that Owen Caissie is of no real use to the Nationals, who already have way too many outfielders. So the Cubs can keep their #1 guy in this scenario, allowing Toboni more leeway to pillage the rest of their farm system.

Since we’re potentially a week away from the reveal of the 2026 Nationals promo schedule, here are my bobblehead predictions, made a bit more challenging given that a decent chunk of the roster could be traded or moved to the bullpen before Opening Day:

1) Wood
2) Gray
3) Butera
4) Cavalli
5) Lile

I’m not saying you deserve to be mugged if you show up in a foreign country wearing a $4,000 chain.

But I’m not not saying it, either.

Good for Melania, tbh.

I’ve not seen most of the films on this list. Many of them, I haven’t heard of.

But just in terms of horror films, I don’t know how it’s possible to claim with a straight face that Weapons is a better film than Sinners. One is a fun, perfectly cromulent horror movie. The other is a masterpiece.
Rolling Stone didn't put Sinners on its top 20 list of films for this year and I'm appalled.

Really cool always being just one dumb idea away from another Great Depression.

Good. A Times Square casino would have been absolutely insufferable.

On the other hand, I’m fine with Cohen fleecing Mets fans. Take their homes, Uncle Steve! www.axios.com/2025/12/01/n...

“Our Core Values:

Joy. We want to be around people that like to have fun. We remain optimistic through the ups and downs, we enjoy the process, and we share in something bigger than ourselves.”

Davey would never have approved this.

Cyber Monday made sense in 2005 when people were still like “Buy something online? I don’t know. Seems weird!”

But now that every day is Cyber Monday, especially Black Friday, how has the term not been retired? Just fold everything into a weeklong sales extravaganza and call it all Black Friday.

Rural customers, eh? Oh well.

This is my plan as well when I’m 79, but for my comic book collection and a few boxes of DVDs instead of a multimillion dollar fortune, and the $66K payment will just be a one-time thing instead of paid annually, and it also won’t be $66K.

I don’t know about this new front office strategy of raiding other, better teams and poaching their best minds. Surely there’s something to be said for simply hiring your unemployed friends, never holding any of them accountable and hoping for the best.

I’m torn between really liking Welcome to Derry (the eyeball scene…Jesus Christ…) and being annoyed at the continuing trend of Hollywood providing a backstory for stuff that doesn’t need one. (See also: Prometheus.)

Or to quote Patton Oswalt: "I don’t give a shit where the stuff I love comes from.”

If you’re driving around with a Christmas tree on your car roof today…congratulations. You did it right. You get it.

Though not nearly as egregious as leaving your tree up well into January, you people who had your trees up in early November were just trying to cheat the system.

That stretch of time where people lined up outside big box stores at 4 AM on Black Friday for the same deals that they can now buy on their phone while laying in bed, seems like a fever dream.

Even the doorbuster stuff, formerly the province of the truly deranged BF shopper, can be bought online.

I’m starting to think the Orioles may not have been on the level when they swore they needed a cut of the Nationals’ TV revenue to be competitive.

Move over, Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Get the fuck out of here, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

A new holiday classic just dropped.

Rendon’s politics are suspect and he’s more or less acted like a douchebag while with the Angels. But we can’t discount the fact that the Nationals—indeed, the world—went to shit the moment he left.

What I’m saying is that he could be magic and just to be safe, we should bring him back as a coach.

They don’t want you, Kyle. Not really. Otherwise they wouldn’t be quibbling over years or money. But we do. Come back home!

Well…come back to the place you spent a few months back in 2021, in any case. No, not Boston. The other place.

I’ve visited London twice and I’ve watched every episode of Industry, so I’m basically a linguistics expert. There’s room for compromise! Both countries should go with the superior words.

Candy > Sweets.

Nappy > Diaper.

Elevator > Lift.

Flat > Apartment.

Oh, and Cigarette > …well, you know.
