The third annual Love for Lisa Blood Drive brought the Newark community together once again in memory of Lisa Schmalbach Boyer — an athletic trainer, wife, mother, and friend who touched countless lives before passing away in 2022 due to complications from leukemia.

Michelle’s son was born with RSV and needed two blood transfusions to recover. Thanks to donors, he received the lifesaving blood he needed — today, he’s a healthy 3-year-old. Now, Michelle donates blood with her mother and brother as their way of paying it forward.
