Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.
Hegseth order on first Caribbean boat strike, officials say: Kill them all
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

Trump claims “any document” signed by Joe Biden is “hereby terminated.”

He calls out executive orders later but obviously “any document” would be much broader and include legislation.

(He can’t legally do that but, as always, we get to watch how far he can push this without repercussions)

Cold take: I do agree that it is (or will soon be) nearly impossible to avoid AI-powered tools.

If the backlash continues, studios will simply not disclose uses that are undetectable to players (coding, text editing, hybrid pipelines) and favored by employees.

Opposing Steam's AI disclosures, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says game stores should drop "the AI tag" because "it makes no sense" when "AI will be involved in nearly all future production"
Steam has actually made AI disclosures even more prominent

God, I’m exhausted by corporate, four-quadrant storytelling. One more dad learns to be less overprotective, mom gets super strength when protecting her kid, nepo baby of an old hero or villain who is a scary status-quo hater (who is just a leftist revolutionary if they spice it up) & I’ll lose it.

Why does every straight dude in Stranger Things have the same macho, needing to get over being overprotective character arc every single season, including the final season? Can we not, for the final season, just have everyone working together and respecting each other against the bad guy?

I suspect being stupid is pretty enjoyable. Imagine waiting 3 years for the Brexit vote to happen, then 4 years for Brexit to happen, then 5 years for the consequence to start fully emerging, only to then MAYBE realize you fucked up. Instead I had to endure 12 years of the dumbest shit imaginable.

One of the main driving factors behind my decision to stay in the US is that while both the US and UK have become increasingly far-right and hostile to immigrants, the US has much further to fall. The UK is basically only a sneeze away from bankrupting what's left of its economy.
The number of British citizens emigrating hasn’t increased, btw. Outward migration is up, but the increase is mostly non-EU migrants leaving the UK.

The methodology counting emigration of British citizens changed in 2021, which increased the number, and it’s been pretty much flat ever since…

It's funny to see people saying the economy is fine, when you have tech dudes asking for a trillion dollars to invest in a product where their answer to "what's your business model" is "we'll ask our product how to make money".

Note: the backdoors are very subtle as they're designed to target people highly familiar with the language the code is written in. I can't promise to get back to everyone, but so far volume of submissions has been low enough to notify every confirmed victim.

For software developers: there's currently a highly sophisticated hacking group targeting developers with backdoored coding skills tests. They typically take the form of large source codes specific to your skillset. Please email any suspicious code to me on: [email protected]

Thinking about the recent passing of Steve Kurtz, co-founder of Critical Art Ensemble.

He was a key figure in the tactical media scene, which I looked up to when I started Molleindustria.

A deep cut: in 1998 the CAE co-created one of the earliest art games and Game Boy hacks: Super Kid Fighter
