❌”Fair share never went away — it just got a new name”
✅HB 8002 is NOT Fair Share — it allows COGs and local governments to propose their own methodology, which will go into their updated Affordable Housing Plans.

🚨📰NEW from Pete Harrison & Karen DuBois-Walton: It’s time for CT to say YIMBY (Yes In My Backyard)

‼️Some claim that HB 8002 doesn’t have protections for open spaces and wildlife areas, but the reality is that open space or conservation areas are already exempted and protected!
November 21, 2025 at 5:13 PM
❌HB 8002 DOES NOT take away existing 8-30g moratoriums. ✅But, it prevents municipalities from getting new ones unless they do a Housing Growth Plan.

✍️Connecticut’s housing crisis requires bold action — we’re glad that the governor is getting on the same page. Huge thanks to advocates and municipal + state leaders for getting us to where we are today.
November 18, 2025 at 8:42 PM
❌HB 8002 DOES NOT take away discretionary funding. ✅Rather, it creates a new fund for towns and cities that create Housing Growth Plans.

We need strong action on housing in Connecticut — but don't just take it from us.

RPA and @desegregatect.bsky.social partnered with @today.yougov.com and found that nearly 90% of CT residents want Gov. Lamont to take action on housing

Connecticut’s housing shortage is weakening our state — families, young workers, and communities are all paying the price. It’s time for real action. Gov. Ned Lamont, call a special session!

Converting vacant buildings is a good idea & works in some settings, which is why it's part of HB5002. However, truly vacant buildings (not new construction like this picture) are often old/dirty. That takes a lot of state investment & planning to help convert - which is why Work Live Ride... (1/2)

The ROAD to Housing Act has been passed! While the federal government is pushing for housing solutions, CT is shying away from basic steps toward reform. CT risks falling further behind in the housing and affordability crisis unless we match national action with local change. (1/2)

Housing and health go hand in hand. 84% of Darien residents have a regular source of care. But in Stamford, that number drops to 77%. These numbers are already lower than what they once were. The stress of rising rents and not enough homes hurts working-class people. (1/2)

It's time, Governor Ned Lamont, to stop letting misplaced anxieties about "local character" block opportunity. We need to build homes where they matter. Read why the opposition to HB 5002 is worrying about the wrong things - great op-ed from @mattsilber.bsky.social from Norwalk. (1/2)

The message from Stamford was clear: Connecticut needs affordable, attainable housing, and we need it now. Gov. Ned Lamont’s veto of HB 5002 was a setback, but the upcoming special session is his chance to make it right.

Ned Lamont grilled by liberal group Indivisible at town hall
'I don't shout and get as angry,' the governor said at Thursday's event, hosted by progressive advocacy group Indivisible's Stamford chapter.

What does fixing our housing crisis look like? It looks like the leadership of the City of New Haven, @mayorelickr.bsky.social, and Alder Tanbee-Smith are with the I-91 Neighborhood Reconnection Initiative! (1/3)

Congratulations to @SaraBronin.bsky.social for winning the prestigious Heinz Award for her groundbreaking work on zoning reform - but the celebration comes with concern.
