don't worry, john roberts says this is a legitimate exercise of presidential power and if we did anything to curb it, we would be robbing the executive of the energy he needs to do his job
Trump rages that Henry Cuellar didn’t pay him back for a pardon by switching parties, blasting Cuellar for a “lack of LOYALTY.”

In other words, Trump admits he was trying to use his pardon power to buy Republicans a House seat.

Every day, more crimes making Richard Nixon’s presidency-ending ones look like harmless grade school pranks. We’ve totally lost the plot as a country.

The pivot embodied by the new National Security Strategy of the Trump Administration along with actions since January 2025 amount to an historic turn by the US away from allies, partnerships, & alliances that served the nation incredibly well over many years, toward transactional unilateralism🗃️
The headline, the main takeaway from a European viewpoint is this:

The transatlantic relationship as we know it is over. Yes, we kinda knew this. But this is now official US White House policy. Not a sppech, not a statement. The West as it used to be no longer exists.

It doesn't matter if a new technology worries normal people, if they can do it they will. Have we ever had privacy baked in to the internet? No, and it's now too late.

As we mark #PearlHarborDay, it’s worth remembering those whose suffering faded from view: Japanese Americans in Hawaii, many of whom were detained, displaced or denied full redress after the outbreak of war.

Their incarceration remains one of WWII’s most overlooked injustices.
The overlooked story of the incarceration of Japanese Americans from Hawaii during World War II
When US President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, he paved the way for the incarceration of Japanese Americans on the mainland and Hawaii
