Another example.

Danyel Reiche is the purported author of ‘Qatar’s World Cup and the Challenge of Sports-Washing’ (Third World Quarterly, 44/2, 2023, 245-64)

No such article exists (I checked the library catalog and with Danyel too). But if I google it, I get an AI summary of its probable content!

Yes! Wikipedia is a collaborative tool that primes transparency and critical source discussion above all. genAI is fundamentally designed to be the opposite of these things: extractivist, intransparent and flattening all meaning.
I know historians who would set their classes up to do these Wikipedia edits, many of the armies of VOLUNTEER unpaid people doing this are also doing it because they genuinely value access to good, reliable information.
That is most notably not the case for gAI.
I do genuinely wonder how many people think what happened with Wikipedia is that “society accepted it” rather than that they put a ton of work into making it reliable, something that is not going to make AI reliable because no technology to actually understand meaning has been or can be invented.

How much does scientific progress cost? Without government dollars for research infrastructure, breakthroughs become improbable
It costs money to maintain the various facilities, utilities and personnel that allow scientists to conduct research in the first place. Without federal support, institutions are left scrambling.

An estimated 40-60k deaths a year in the US are expressly linked to insurance denial, delay, or under coverage.

In 2022, there were 24,849 homicides in the United States.

Insurance industry is killing 2-3x more people per year than actual homicide.

uma vez, a caminho para um treino com o Botafogo, a Renault Trafic perdeu a porta lateral quando estávamos em andamento a uns 80kmh. O “professor” (técnico-adjunto e motorista neste dia):
