...if you fell in love with the format of an un-conference today, but wanted more folk from the third sector, and more conversations of a charitable focus.

May I interest you in UKCharityCamp, same city, same deal, but the other end of the year. (It's a Nov. thing.)

I was actually thinking of Koumba, how it’s a world where his selfishness is absolutely accepted and supported vs the woman getting vilified for shouting.

just the grief of it is so well done. When you’ve lost your person, everyone else seems to have an understanding but no-one understands you.

It’s SO good and it’s hypnotically well shot. The other thing I’m still churning over is the acceptance granted to a man‘s self-involved fantasies vs the rejection of Carol when she expresses anger. But then it’s also somehow often just very funny?!

So intrigued where Pluribus is going to go on both western fantasies of individualism and how diversity and consent get suppressed in a collective. But it hit me most as a portrait of depression. The isolation, the well meaning people who want you to be happy but won’t ever endure the pain with you

It also, more often than not, actually boils down to “a holiday”
January 16, 2026 at 9:36 PM
Though I actually fully admire the people who go “I’d just love a big holiday” rather than the trauma tales.

I would simply rather be murdered than attend a dinner with James. #TraitorsUK

Don’t sweat it. You can ride that unthinking horse to safety. *stares in meryl*

Ugh the infuriating “is someone close keeping me in“ phase because everyone is in denial that if you’re in endgame and not a traitor then you are unlikeable, boring, or stupid. #TraitorsUK

“Heading in a different colour isn’t a picture????”
January 16, 2026 at 10:12 AM
My rather more sassy take on this is “no-one needs a key to explain how you read a paragraph just saying”. This is a Miro subtweet.

It’s hard being a wordy person in a field of visual thinkers. “Oh that’s quite a wall of text” isn’t a compliment? Paragraph breaks aren’t enough white space?? Bullet points aren’t a design???

Whoever is charging reality TV contestants to teach them “micro-expressions” is the real winner #TheTraitorsUK

Summary of Harriet‘s roundtable ‘strategy’:

The staff were very lovely but they seem to need me to come *in person* three separate times? Also so far the only place not to accept a scanned death certificate, even though they just made a photocopy of the one I took in??

(Niche bereavement admin joke)

Actual banks:
*email saying account is closed*

Tiny high street credit union:
We need you to come in person wearing only purple on a full moon.
You must bring a vial of your own blood and a haunted painting of the deceased. This will be the first of nine trials.

It’s ok because friction helps them achieve their goals! 🫠😭

If you say you’re “user-centred”, are you claiming you’re the voice of, the advocate for, or the ally with?
I really despise the “you can’t ever ask users what they want!” / faster horses take in UCD. Usually generalised from a specific product that a customer couldn’t be expected to guess what was possible to add, blindly applied to all manner of services and people as a way to devalue their input.

The idea that users can’t know what they themselves really need is so fundamentally disrespectful. And often they’re asking for things like “just some time away from admin, please god” and what they get offered is “more admin, but now it’s AI!”

Also as we crumble into a society built entirely around traffic where direct deaths and environmental destruction are considered necessary evils to support business convenience, seriously, can you not think of a better example? Team I Just Wanted Faster Horses.

It’s astonishing for example how often the silly things users suggest that we definitely shouldn’t do are also the expensive or time consuming part that we don’t have in the action plan. Own up to your organisational priorities without dismissing your user’s expertise!
